Buena Vista IRISH COFFEE

at the Buena Visit Cafe!
A MUST BEFORE ANY BLUE ANGELS SHOW! Two is way better than one, and after THREE, you can scoot up Hyde St. faster than any CABLE CAR.
"After two, before the sip of the third,
things in the background go sort of soft.
Photo compositition goes a little ascew.
Sometime during the last sip of the second,
a warm cozy glow envelopes you.
After the third, all you want to do is climb
the San Francisco hills and breath the heavens."
The IRISH COFFEE STORY (borrowed from the Buena Vista Cafe's website). The historic venture started on the night of November the 10th in 1952. Jack Koeppler, then the owner of the Buena Vista Cafe, challenged international travel writer Stanton Delaplane to help re-create a highly touted "Irish Coffee" served at Shannon Airport in Ireland. Intriqued, Stan accepted Jack's invitation, and the pair began to experiment immediately.
Throughout the night the two of them stirred and sipped judiciously and eventually acknowledged two recurring problems. The taste was "not quite right", and the cream would not float. Stan's hopes sank like the cream, but Jack was undaunted. The restaurantateur pursued the elusive elixir with religious fervor, even making a pilgrimage overseas to Shannon Airport.
Upon Jack's return, the experimentation continued. Finally, the perfect-tasting Irish whiskey was selected. Then the problem of the bottom-bent cream was taken to San Francisco's mayor, a prominent dairy owner. It was discovered that when the cream was aged foro 48 hours and frothed to a precise consistency, it would float as delicately as a swan on the surface of Jack's and Stan's special nectar.
Success was theirs! With the recipe now mastered, a sparkling clear, six-ounce, heat-treated goblet was chosen as a suitable chalice. Soon the fame of the Buena Vista's Irish Coffee spread throughout the land....today, it's still the same delicious mixture, and it's still the same clamorous, cosmopolitan Buena Vista.

BLUE ANGELS - San Francisco - Fri. Oct. 5, 2007

Two of the F-18's tear over Russian Hill, and head for their "center" point - Aquatic Park.
Four F-18's SCREAM over the Ghiradelli sign. It's a sneak attack from the rear for visitors watching. The engines are so incredibly loud, that they make every cell in my body tingle.
BOEING F/A-18 HORNETS. The mission of The Blue Angels: to enhance Navy recruiting and credibly represent the Navy and Marine Corps aviation to the United States, and it's Armed Forces to America and other countries as INTERNATIONAL AMBASSADORS of GOOD WILL.
Fat Albert, heading back SOUTH, approaching Ghiradelli and flying back to SFO. This Lockheed-Martin C-130T Hercules, affectionately
known as Fat Albert Airlines, flies more than 140,000 miles each season. It carries more than 40 maintenance and support personnel, their gear and enough spare parts and communication equipment to complete a successful air show.

Fat Albert cruises at a speed of more than 320 knots (360 miles per hour), at 27,000 feet. Four Allison turborprop engines, which produce more than 16,000 shaft-horsepower, provide Fat Albert Airlines with the power to land and depart on runways as short as 2,500 feet.

SLAVA Snow Show - WOW!!!

Sunny today, in lovely Pacifica. The "F-O-G" is staying off shore.
My poppies in the backyard are begging to be photographed.
I saw "Slava's Snowshow" over the weekend, for the 2nd time,
and it was more magical than the first time. It was the final SF performance, and I took photo's at the end. Photo's were NOT permitted, but since it was the very last show , I somehow found extra courage and cahuna's to take a few.
Slava was very emotional at the end, and showed tears during his standing ovation.
Here's some photo's - if you don't know anything about this "magical piece of theatre",
check out the website link. It was amazing, and I will remember it always.

TRUELY AMAZING!
Slava, during the final bow - he took off his wig, and had tears in his eyes.
The largest INDOOR artificial SNOWSTORM, a giant cobweb that covers the audience
& thousands of bubbles.
Me and the green coat clown, and me and SLAVA - the head clown, genius and CREATOR.
I LOVED IT, LOVED IT!!!
